Featured this year for the 7th annual, WonderJam in Amsterdam is the supergroup, Austin Volunteer Orchestra, including D. Brown Fisher, Meagan Heavlin Ochoa, Josh Jarret, Preston Dukes, Eitel Coldburg, Donny Silverman, and many more. These musicians will form various arrangements supporting different original music, and then come together to perform Texas covers from all genres and generations in their signature rock n roll style (this ranges from Bob Wills and country all the way through Butthole Surfers and punk, including swing, jazz, funk, jam, all elements, but arranged as a rock n roll ensemble. A great way to represent the music that is Texas by the performers that are Austin. Not only will we have these full band nights, but also do intimate solo parties for our patron travelers.

Of course, other musicians will be joining the fun, especially this year, as more and more come along and jam as travelers. D. Brown Fisher will once again be our faithful hosting artist and master of ceremonies for the week. This year, Fisher has agreed to host somewhat more official tours throughout Amsterdam, showing some of his hidden haunts and more. Day tours are new to WJA, officially, and many a past traveler knows we loosely organize (rather encourage unity within the group to go out and have fun around town) daytime activities. Not this year, time for a change… care to stroll the cobblestones, popping in and out of shops, where familiar faces greet each other in the kindest gratitude, then come on along. And the evenings will be filled with more private parties and VIP events than ever before (at the request of past travelers, you asked for it, now you will have it too!). That is right, and more early evening events that do not rage on until 5am, unless we want them too…

Singer-Songwriter, Vocals, Guitar. Original is often overused, but D. Brown Fisher is just that. Breaking ground as a soloist in 2004, his heavy voicing and powerhouse vocals mixed with a high range and characteristic style, dubbed ‘Texas Folk Rock’, is backed by acoustic, rockin’ out, guitar. A poet gone to the dark side of lyrics and self-taught instrumentalist, his strange stylings and heavy rhythms catch the ear. From rock n roll to soul, country to funky, the old and the new, D. Brown fuses the music, with himself. :: Official Web Site :: Artist Web Page

And new to the WJA family of musicians is Megan Heavlin Ochoa! This is one powerhouse vocalist and very talented instrumentalist too. WJA knows our travel patrons and the fans of Europe will love this new addition. Have a listen to her music through the links provided; she is a diamond-in-the-rough, yet to be discovered, until now… Not only will she be debuting now in Austin, having relocated there recently, but Ochoa and Fisher are fronting the long awaited return of Austin Volunteer Orchestra (a revolving ensemble of Texas talent, first debut at WJA 2004). We are arranging to have the whole new arrangement for AVO in Amsterdam this year, if possible, but this is yet to be confirmed… more on this to come.

Singer-Songwriter, Vocals, Guitar, Djiembe, Violin.
“I think it’s good to ask yourself every once in a while… ‘what is significant about this moment?’ ” This is a simple, yet powerful look into the mind and ideas that motivate Megan Heavlin Ochoa’s music and lyrics. With a deeply luscious and breathy voice, Ochoa effortlessly flows from soft whisper to belt-busting, solid powerhouse vocals. Her voice is signature as her style; once heard, it is unmistakable… and once felt, irresistible. Her vocal talent alone sets her far apart from others; her instrumental prowess only supports her amazing voice, showing a wide range of talents and capability, giving her the opportunity to grow endlessly in the music world. This ‘new kid’ on the block in Austin music is deceiving, so don’t let her recent arrival to town fool you, she has an extensive history of musical endeavors and the work ethic to boot. Check her out, you will not be disappointed!
WJA is honored to debut Ochoa to Europe and our audiences from all over. :: MySpace Music Link
