AVO returns to Ruta Maya on August 5

That’s right, you can see AVO return to the stage on August 5, 2010 at Ruta Maya. The show starts at 9pm with Shandon Sahm covers Sahm (son doing all dad’s {Doug Sahm} songs), and then AVO around 10:30.

We’re just coming off of the Cash Bash – Armadillo World HQ’s 40th Anniversary month gig at Threadgills… what a hoot that was. Thanks to everyone who made it out for good times that night. This Ruta Maya show will have more time with AVO onstage.

AVO returns for Johnny Cash Bash on August 1

The Austin Volunteer Orchestra — with special guest Shandon Sahm — will perform at Threadgill’s South, as part of “Rowdy Tijmes Presents: The Johnny Cash Bash“. Starting at 6pm on August 1, catch a whole evening of Johnny Cash songs performed by Texas’ finest bands and musicians. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 on the day of the show.

The event is sponsored by The Austin Chronicle, Martin & Co., The Roots Music Association and Outlaw Magazine.

Free Mondays in March continue with AVO show and special opener, Monday

This Monday, March 22nd, catch Austin Volunteer Orchestra at Ruta Maya with special opener SuperPANCHO from Deutschland, opening the show at 8pm, with an acoustic set. We’re excited to continue our FREE gigs each Monday in March, and welcome an international group of artists to join us in celebration of great music. Come on out and enjoy great drink specials and the camaraderie of Austin’s finest coffee house.

Austin Volunteer Orchestra continues free Mondays at Ruta Maya tonight, Monday March 8! The jams continue to get better and better, and we know you’ll you’ll be blown away by D Brown Fisher, Megan Heavlin Ochoa and the rest of the AVO crew! Remember, the show starts at 8pm and runs till 11:30.

Starting March 1, 2010, Austin Volunteer Orchestra will be taking over at Austin favorite Ruta Maya on Monday nights throughout the WHOLE month of March! That’s every Monday people. This will be a jam packed night full of salacious sounds featuring AVO, as well as D Brown Fisher, Megan Heavlin Ochoa and many others throughout the month! We hope to see you all out! The show starts early at 8 and will run till 11:30….and the best part is it’s TOTALLY FREE!

Austin Volunteer Orchestra will be performing a last minute gig at Austin favorite Ruta Maya Coffee Shop on Thursday, 2/11….show gets kicked off at 9pm, and its FREE so we’d love to see you out! AVO members Megan Heavlin Ochoa and yours truly, D Brown Fisher, will be serenading some sweet acoustic beats in the middle of the full band sets with AVO, and surprise special guests bringing it all home! It’s gonna be another great night of music for your listening pleasure, so come if you can! Did we mention…no cover!?

Anyone who’s been to Ruta Maya can attest to the community atmosphere, which was never more present than last Thursday night. We’d like to thank Killa Dilla and Armadillo Road for opening up the show. And of course, we also appreciate all of our friends and fans (both old and new) who turned out on a rainy Thursday night to see some great music. There’s a lot more music on the way, so keep checking back for details on future gigs.
